President Trump was asked on camera about his decision to end the (DACA) program. The program was created under former President Obama and was focused on protecting the children of immigrants from deportation.
President Trump recently told correspondent Cecilia Vega that he had “no second thoughts” regarding the ending of DACA. However, his answer to Ms. Vega came just hours after he tweeted that he would “revisit the issue” if Congress can’t find a solution in the next six months.
The tweet and statement caused several lawmakers and DACA critics to question Trump’s full devotion to ending the program. Though he seems like he wants to end the program, when asked about if Congress would be able to pass legislation for it, Trump stated, “I hope they do. I certainly hope they do.”
The program currently protects around 800,000 children who were brought over by illegal immigrants. Many of these are now young adults who have full lives. What do you think about Trump’s devotion to ending DACA? Do you think he will follow through with it? Let us know in the comments below!
