AOC demands impeachment over US military’s stay at Trump golf course

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is responding harshly to to an investigation the House Oversight Committee is engaged in regarding President Donald Trump’s luxury golf resort in Scotland. The committee has been probing a matter since April, and the Trump Administration has been stonewalling all requests for information, according to Democrats.

The House Oversight Committee is looking at the military’s use of the Scotland resort as a pit stop in their travels. The overnight stays at Trump’s Turnberry resort outside Glasgow, Scotland involved an Air National Guard crew using a C-17 military transport plane to ferry supplies to Kuwait.

“The Defense Department has not produced a single document in this investigation,” a top committee aide told Politico Friday.

With other trips to the region, the plane made stopovers at or near U.S. air bases in Germany, Spain, and Italy. The Glasgow area has no U.S. military facilities.

Democrats in the House are accusing Trump of wrongly profiting from government use of his properties — including Vice President Mike Pence’s stay at Trump’s property in Doonbeg, Ireland last month.

In 2018, the U.S. State Department paid the Turnberry property $77,000 for hotel rooms during Trump’s July stay at the resort.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has issued an impassioned call to impeach President Trump because of this investigation into the Scottish golf club.

“The President is corrupt and must be impeached,” the freshman Democrat posted on Twitter Friday.

AOC has called for Trump’s impeachment a number of times since she took office in January.

“Opening an impeachment inquiry is exactly what we must do when the President obstructs justice, advises witnesses to ignore legal subpoenas, & more,” she tweeted in June.
