New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lashed out at those who called her laundry list of things the government should offer Americans, “free stuff.”

Ocasio-Cortez cited a reporter who covered an event where she spoke:

“From yesterday, @aoc had a Green New Deal for public housing townhall in the Bronx. ‘I don’t want to hear the term free stuff ever again…I am already hearing from some of these neoliberal folks who are trying to flip the script on us.’”

The 30-year-old freshman Democrat added more to her commentary, saying, “Public education, libraries, & infrastructure policies (which we‘ve had before in America and elsewhere in the world!) are not ‘free stuff,'” she tweeted.

“They are PUBLIC GOODS. And they are worth investing in, protecting, & advancing for all society and future generations. Sincerely, NY-14.”

Ocasio-Cortez, who has described herself as a Democratic-socialist and has endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders, in the 2020 race, went on to say that she never even wants to hear the term “free stuff” uttered in a political context by anyone.

“People like to say, ‘Oh, this is about free stuff.’ This is not about free stuff,” she said during the town hall. “I never want to hear the word, or the term, ‘free stuff,’ ever again.”

Radio host Mark Steyn commented Tuesday on Ocasio-Cortez’s claims and her desire to promise open borders along with free health care and automatic public housing:

“What I love about her, by free stuff… essentially she wants everybody on the planet to be able to come here. So that’s free borders, and free health care and free college,” Steyn said according to Fox News.

“She wants seven billion people essentially, to be able to enjoy what in the 19th century would be the life of the younger son of a middle European grand duke — at the cost to the U.S. taxpayer. And she says, ‘Oh, but don’t call that free stuff.’ God bless her.”
