President Donald Trump found an unwitting ally in his battle against illegal immigration. The president used former President Barack Obama to drive his position home on the immigration issue on Tuesday. He used his Twitter account to share a video of the former commander-in-chief talking about putting an end to illegal immigration.
“I agree with President Obama 100%,” Trump wrote above the following clip of then-Illinois Sen. Obama. He was giving a speech in 2005 that included tough rhetoric on immigrants coming into America illegally.
“We are a generous and welcoming people here in the US, but those who enter the country illegally, and those who employ them, disrespect the rule of law and they are showing disregard for those who are following the law,” Obama says in the tweeted clip.
“We simply cannot allow people to pour into the US undetected, undocumented, unchecked and circumventing the line of people who are waiting patiently, diligently and lawfully to become immigrants in this country,” he continues.
There is a longer version of this very clip posted on C-SPAN, and it reveals Obama saying that “securing the border alone” is not enough. He also advocates for the “Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act,” a landmark immigration bill proposed by Senators John McCain and Ted Kennedy. That bill was never voted on in the Senate.
Do you think Former President Obama will respond to be used by President Trump in this way? What do you think he would say about his former position?

Are the midterm elections going to be focused on the immigration issue, and will the GOP ride this issue to ultimate victory?
