According to former Clinton campaign chief strategist Mark Penn, it’s still too early to say that Hillary Clinton will not run for president once again.
“There’s still a couple of days here,” he said on “Sunday Morning Futures.”
“I don’t know whether [Clinton will] look at the Michael Bloomberg thing and say, ‘the field’s too crowded now. I missed my opportunity,’ or the opposite.
“‘Wow the field’s weak, I could come in. I could get 165,000 donors, I’m tied with [Joe] Biden in some of these early states…’ There’s still a political logic there for her,” Penn continued.
Penn also pointed to former Vice President Biden’s less than substantial lead in the primaries that have lead many to consider him a longshot to beat President Donald Trump, but more viable than other, more progressive candidates who are too far to the left.
“I think it was political logic,” Penn said earlier in the interview. “Unless this field changed, Biden is a frontrunner, but a weak frontrunner and a lot of the other candidates are too far to the left.”
Fox News host Tucker Carlson and his recent guest, a Democratic strategist, found common ground, saying that they both believe that former first lady Hillary Clinton will run for president again in 2020.
“My theory and I think it’s true and someone who works for the Clintons for years confirmed to me, the Clinton’s don’t do everything to make anything haphazardly, everything’s strategy,” Carlson said on Tuesday evening’s edition of “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” “I’m starting to think Hillary Clinton wants to get in the race, is that a crazy theory?”
Democratic strategist Robert Patillo, who was a guest on the show, agreed with the host, saying that he also believes Clinton will enter the race.
“I think she’s absolutely going to get in the race … I think absolutely,” Patillo said.
“What we have seen is the Democratic Party has been looking for that standard-bearer,” Patillo said. “I believe they are looking for the bootstraps after Obama, somebody that can carry on that legacy.
“The idea of Warren and Bernie, if you take their combined numbers, it’s still about 30% of the party. So you have 70% of the party that is looking for something different, they are hoping it will be Biden but as his campaign continues to get hit over Hunter Biden, continues to get hit over Ukraine, all these other scandals, that opens the door for somebody like Hillary Clinton who has 100% name recognition … who already has all the mechanisms from 2008 to be able to step in and run.”
Carlson then predicted that “of course” Clinton is preparing to run for president.
“Why are we ignoring the obvious? And that’s not to belittle your point, it’s a really smart point and no one else is making it but I think you’re absolutely right,” Carlson asked, confirming again that “Of course she’s getting in.”
President Donald Trump taunted his former political opponent, earlier this month saying that she should enter the 2020 presidential race and steal away the support of Democratic candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
“I think that Crooked Hillary Clinton should enter the race to try and steal it away from Uber Left Elizabeth Warren. Only one condition. The Crooked one must explain all of her high crimes and misdemeanors including how & why she deleted 33,000 Emails AFTER getting ‘C’ Subpoena!” Trump tweeted on Tuesday morning.
Clinton responded hours later simply by saying, “Don’t tempt me. Do your job.”
Don’t tempt me. Do your job.
