GOP lawmakers seek to censure Adam Schiff for “trying to deceive the American public”

Rep. Debbie Lesko of Arizona called out House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff saying that he is leading a “total political hit job” on President Donald Trump.

Lesko, a Republican is co-sponsoring a bill to censure the California Democrat, said on Monday’s edition of “Your World” on Fox News that Americans have a lot to lose if Schiff is successful.

“I imagine that the Democrats are going to kill the bill to censure Adam Schiff because this whole thing is a political hit job against the president,” she said.

“Adam Schiff… has for two years said he had proof that the president colluded with Russians — that turned out to be false in the Mueller report. Then, made up… what President Trump said to the Ukrainian president, trying to deceive the American public.”

Lesko told the hosts that Schiff is continuing to mislead the public about alleged wrongdoing and or unethical behavior on the part of the president. However, according to the Arizona Republican, Schiff’s bias is what is hurting Congress’ ability to deal with issues that Americans care about.

“Nothing is getting done around here except all these closed-door impeachment inquiries,” she told host Neil Cavuto.

The Republican lawmaker also said that Schiff repeatedly liked to the public, saying that he had no contact with the whistleblower on the Ukraine issue, despite saying later that he had failed to disclose contact between said whistleblower nad his staff.

“He’s so biased, and on multiple occasions has said falsities,” she said, adding Trump, to date, has been offered “no due process.”

Fox News reported that Lesko explained that former Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton were both allowed more access to the process and information in their impeachment inquiries than Trump has been.
