It Begins: Trump’s ICE raids hit San Francisco

Sunday saw Immigration and Customs Enforcement working to round up illegal citizens who have been found guilty of a crime and eligible for deportation in a series of raids in California, according to The DailyMail that President Donald Trump authorized and warned about.

“Yesterday the group of Bay Area attorneys went to the federal ICE offices in San Francisco to demand information about the threat of raids this weekend,” the DailyMail reported.

The president recently promised that Immigrations and Customs Enforcement would begin to crack down on illegal immigrants by rounding them up and sending them back to their home countries according to The New York Post.

“I don’t call them raids. I say they came in illegally and we’re bringing them out legally. They’ll be starting fairly soon,” Trump said according to the Post. “We’re removing people that have come in, all of these people over the years that have come in illegally, we are removing them and bringing them back to their country,” he said.

According to Attorney Siobhan Waldron, “ICE is not only targeting those without immigration status, but those with status, so everyone must must educate themselves,” the DailyMail reported.

Waldron went on to encourage illegal immigrants who think that they could be targeted for deportation to not allow ICE into their homes. Waldron said “do not open the door’ before adding: ‘There is a history of prohibiting attorney access here in San Francisco and at a new facility in Stockton.”

At the time that the president warned about the raids, he not only encouraged Mexico to continue its efforts to slow down illegal immigration on their side and reiterated that he believes the immigrant holding centers “are incredible.”

“I’ve seen some of those places and they are run beautifully,” the president said of the detention centers according to the Post.

“They’re clean, they’re good, they do a great job,” he said. The president went on to blame Democrats for any bad conditions that the Department of Homeland Security’s in-house watch group had slammed in their report earlier in the week.

“They’re crowded because the Democrats will not give us any relief from these loopholes. We have loopholes that are so bad. We have asylum that’s so bad,” Trump continued.

“So these places — many of them, not all of them, but many of them are incredible. They’re really well run. Border Patrol and ICE are doing a great job. I think they do a great, [job] with those facilities.”
