Joy Behar, co-host of ABC’s “The View” told former Navy SEAL, Rep. Dan Crenshaw, that she believed that anyone who supports President Donald Trump is “unpatriotic” during Crenshaw’s appearance on her show.
“Let’s talk about, you know, the fact that he met with Putin for 90 minutes… and never once brought up the fact that Russia, RUSSIA, interfered in our election,” Behar said.
“And he never brought it up. How is it that the Republican Party, your colleagues, can stand by this man when he is involved in this way with Russia?”
Behar continued: “I said last week I don’t want to see any of those flag pins anymore on Republicans who don’t stand up against this guy for Russian meddling, and other things that he’s done. It seems as though he’s unpatriotic. What do you say to that?”
Crenshaw replied saying that, “I think we’re overstating it. First of all, that meeting was regarding Venezuela.
“I will give you this. The president has a bad habit of repeating what Putin says to the public,” Crenshaw conceded. “He shouldn’t do that. But he also has a pretty good habit of taking actions and putting policies in place that are vehemently counter-Russia.
“Just off the top of my head as I’m thinking about it … OK so, putting lethal aid in Ukraine, actually killing Russian militants in Syria. Bombing Syria chemical weapons, I saw this is Russian ally. Pressuring the Europeans to spend more ion their defense to use our national gas instead of Russian natural gas. None of these things are good for Russia.
Behar asked if he believed Trump was playing Putin, Crenshaw said that he was unsure, but he did know that the current administration had moved to make more cybersecurity to fend off further interference by the Russians, saying that while his words might not be as negative as some would like, his actions speak to his loyalty.
