George Conway went further in the ongoing break with his wife Kellyanne over Donald Trump and he took it to a new level on Monday. Conway retweeted lashed out on Trump rival Joe Biden with a message directed at “your boss” to his hundreds of thousands of followers.
This altercation was the latest escalation in a highly public marital feud over the subject that last month. Kellyanne Conway blasted a network anchor who forced her to listen on live TV to withering criticism her husband threw at Trump.
Kellyanne Conway provided a rare indoor discussion with reporters inside the White House briefing room. She tweeted out a video clip of seemingly bizarre comments by Biden at a public event from back in 2017.
The comments, taken out of context, were about Biden’s time working as a teenage lifeguard at a mostly black swimming pool, and featured the candidate talking about his own leg hair.
“WATCH: Sleepy Joe is Creepy Joe. We need Ukraine’s help to defeat THIS guy?” Kellyanne Conway wrote, and she included the video clip of the Biden speech. It made the rounds in conservative media after being sent out by Trump campaign press secretary Tim Murtaugh Sunday morning.
George Conway hit back, retweeting his wife about ten minutes later. “Your boss apparently thought so,” he wrote, in reference to Trump.
Both members of the husband-and-wife team are direct in their criticism or defense of Trump, but they typically avoid going after each other directly.
In Biden’s comments, he discussed the hair on his legs – after earlier saying he was the only white employee at the pool, a job he said he took partly to try to heal social divisions.
“I got hairy legs that turned … blonde in the sun,” Biden said. “And the kids used to come up and reach into the pool and rub my leg down so it was straight and watch the hair come back up again,” Biden continued.
He said he “learned about kids jumping on my lap, and I loved kids jumping on my lap.”
Kellyanne’s tweet was criticizing a key part of the Democratic impeachment theory – that Trump abused his office by seeking assistance from Ukraine by pressuring the nation to investigate Biden.
Donald Trump Jr. advisor Arthur Schwartz entered the fray in Kellyanne’s defense, going after George Conway on her behalf.
“If @gtconway3rd thinks it’s OK to trash his wife for her boss’ views, it’s definitely OK to trash George’s employer’s clients. Get on it,” he wrote, tweeting a link to Conway’s firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz.
Kellyanne was frustrated last month when CNN’s Wolf Blitzer told her he would play a clip of George Conway in what he called a “sensitive question” and a “political question.
“I don’t want to talk about your marriage. I know there are issues there,” Blitzer said.
“Did you just say there are issues there?” Conway asked him. “Why, and why are you doing that?” she questioned.
