Kellyanne Conway, the counselor to the president, didn’t hold back when talking about the dynamic in her marriage to lawyer George Conway. Conway’s intense comments came during a heated conversation on Wednesday with a reporter who asked about her notoriously vocal anti-Trump husband. The White House counselor said regarding her husband, “He gets his power through me.”
“Let me tell you something, from a powerful woman,” Kellyanne Conway said during a call with Washington Examiner reporter Caitlin Yilek. “Don’t pull the crap where you’re trying to undercut another woman based on who she’s married to.
“He gets his power through me, if you haven’t noticed. Not the other way around.”
Conway was fuming because Yilek wrote about her husband’s well-known anti-Trump stance in an article about a report claiming President Trump was considering Conway as his next chief of staff.
Tom Joannou, an assistant for Kellyanne, had reached out to Yilek and asked to have an off-the-record conversation. It didn’t take long before Conway herself appeared on the call. Yilek and the Washington Examiner maintain that Conway’s part of the conversation was not off-the-record. And that’s when things got somewhat out of control.
“So I just am wondering why in God’s earth you would need to mention anything about George Conway’s tweets in an article that talks about me as possibly being chief of staff,” Conway said during the controversial interchange.
Conway went so far as to threatened to investigate Yilek’s personal life as retribution.
It is George Conway who introduced his wife to Trump – who later offered him a top position in the Justice Department. But when he was never nominated, their relationship turned negative.
In August 2018, George Conway maintained that Trump was incapable of “faithfully” executing laws. Last November George Conway described the Trump administration as a “sh-t show in a dumpster fire.”
As expected, Trump has also hit back at George Conway on Twitter, calling him a “stone cold LOSER & husband from hell!”
