Meghan McCain accuses Trump of going soft on terrorists, being too harsh on refugees

The hosts of ABC’s “The View,” took on the issue of President Donald Trump’s talks with terrorist organizations during their Wednesday show.

Meghan McCain called out Trump for closing the border, and entertaining the idea of allowing terrorists to visit the United States for the purpose of diplomatic talks.

Co-host Joy Behar was the one to queue up the subject near the beginning of the show saying, “You know, this is a guy who has the Taliban, he’s going to have a big meeting with the Taliban. He loves Kim Jong-un and Putin, and yet these people who are fleeing a hurricane are suddenly criminals,” said Behar, according to The DailyMail.

“He’s so despicable. He makes my head stand up. My hair. I can’t stand him.”

“The juxtaposition of hypothetically inviting … any terrorist … I thought it was a joke,” said McCain.

“The idea of doing it so close to 9/11 and then saying that these [hurricane victims] are gang members, it should be infuriating.”

She then added: “You’re okay with terrorists. You’re not okay with refugees from a hurricane.”

The president tweeted on Saturday that he had canceled a meeting that had been kept a secret from the public in which the Taliban would meet for weekend talks at Camp David, along with Afghani leaders.

According to his account of the events, he pulled the plug on the scheduled meetings after the Taliban car bombing in Kabul on Thursday that killed 12, including a United States service member.

“Unbeknownst to almost everyone, the major Taliban leaders and, separately, the President of Afghanistan, were going to secretly meet with me at Camp David on Sunday. They were coming to the United States tonight. Unfortunately, in order to build false leverage, they admitted to an attack in Kabul that killed one of our great great soldiers, and 11 other people. I immediately cancelled the meeting and called off peace negotiations. What kind of people would kill so many in order to seemingly strengthen their bargaining position?

They didn’t, they only made it worse! If they cannot agree to a ceasefire during these very important peace talks, and would even kill 12 innocent people, then they probably don’t have the power to negotiate a meaningful agreement anyway. How many more decades are they willing to fight?

However, the fact that the president was considering hosting the group instead of dealing with other pressing issues was too much for the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain:

“This seems to be his – he goes there every time there is a natural disaster or any time there is a problem with refugees or people trying to flee their country,” said McCain earlier in the show.

“This place has always been a beacon on the hill but where is — as the leader of this country, this is the moment where you speak to them to say, “we are here for you.” Not, “you’re not welcome.”
