Oops: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ Attack On ICE Backfires Immediately

The former Acting ICE Director and present Fox News contributor, Thomas Homan, called out Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after the freshman Democrat from New York accused both President Trump and ICE of “systematically” violating human rights at the border.

“The one thing the president has not talked about is the fact he has systematically engaged in the violation of human rights on our border,” Ocasio-Cortez said on MSNBC Tuesday night after Trump’s primetime address on border security.

She said that Trump is responsible for migrant children being separated from their families at the border, and she claimed that a child died in ICE custody on Christmas Day.

“The president should not be asking for more to an agency that has systematically violated human rights,” she said “The president should really be defending why we’re funding such an agency at all, because right now what we’re seeing is death, right now what we’re seeing is the violation of human rights.”

Homan, as a guest on Wednesday’s “Fox & Friends,” said Ocasio-Cortez “needs to do her homework.”

“First of all, no child died in ICE custody. That was a different agency, that was the Border Patrol. And they did everything they could to save that child’s life,” Homan said.

He said if Ocasio-Cortez wants to throw around blame for the humanitarian crisis at the southern border, she should fault the Democrats who have failed to close the loopholes in immigration law that incentivize migrants to make the dangerous trek to the U.S.

“When you talk about human rights violations, does she realize that ICE has arrested and removed hundreds of human rights violators from this country, including Nazis and people that committed war crimes?”

He added that Ocasio-Cortez “ought to be saying thank you” to ICE for removing thousands of criminals from the streets of New York.

“So a thank you would be nice, other than the misinformation that she usually puts out.”
