Rep. Nunes Cleared and Is Coming for the FBI

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) was cleared by the House Ethics Committee on Thursday of allegations that he disclosed classified information earlier this year while serving as chairman of the committee.

Nunes was forced to step down from the helm of the committee’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. He also faced alleged collusion with President Donald Trump and his allies.

He made the first statement that members of the Trump transition team had their communications illegally monitored by the U.S.intelligence community.

When the Ethics Committee announced Thursday that it would close their investigation following consultation with experts, that step led to the conclusion that any information Nunes shared was not considered classified.

Nunes always denied that he coordinated his disclosure of the information with the White House, but he eventually bowed to political pressure and stepped aside from control of the intelligence panel’s Russia investigation. Mike Conaway (R-Texas), Tom Rooney (R-Fla.) and Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) took over the lead in the inquiry.

Nunes thanked the panel in a Thursday statement “for completely clearing me today of the cloud that was created by this investigation, and for determining that I committed no violation of anything — no violation of House Rules, law, regulations, or any other standards of conduct.”

“While I appreciate the Ethics Committee’s work, I need to reiterate that the allegations against me were obviously frivolous and were rooted in politically motivated complaints filed against me by left-wing activist groups,” he said.

Nunes went even further accusing Democrats on the panel of making statements “that appeared to prejudge this matter before they began investigating the complaint,” and he called on the committee to release the transcripts related to his case as “an act of transparency and accountability to bolster confidence that partisanship does not infect the Ethics Committee’s investigations.”

But, Nunes didn’t stop there.

Nunes also announced in a statement to Bloomberg News that he is getting ready to issue a subpoena that has the potential to give ammunition to the Trump Administration against Mueller and possibly shake up the FBI. Sara Carter from Circa News is reporting that:

On Thursday, Rep. Nunes, a California Republican, said in a statement, “pursuant to the House Intelligence Committee’s prior subpoenas and information requests, the Department of Justice should have provided the committee with information on contacts that DOJ official Bruce Ohr had with Fusion GPS representatives and Christopher Steele.”

“The Committee will issue a subpoena to Bruce Ohr for information on this matter,” Nunes added.

It will take several days to process the subpoena, said a source with knowledge of the subpoena.

Ohr’s demotion was first reported Thursday by James Rosen with Fox News. Ohr was the Justice Department’s associate deputy attorney general and according to Fox News he was ony “four doors down from his boss, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.”

He also held a second post as director of the DOJ’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), which is described on its website as “the centerpiece of the attorney general’s drug strategy to reduce the availability of drugs by disrupting and dismantling major drug trafficking organizations and money laundering organizations and related criminal enterprises.”

What do you think about the way Nunes’ name has been totally cleared? Are you glad he is going to go after the FBI?
