Sean Hannity comes to Chris Cuomo’s defense over “Fredo” meltdown

Fox News’ Sean Hannity came to the defense of CNN’s Chris Cuomo after a viral video of the CNN host in a verbal altercation with someone at what appeared to be a public event ended with Cuomo threatening to “f—ing throw” someone down the stairs and or “wreck” their “s***” for calling him “Fredo.”

The video began, being filmed from below, after the argument had begun and Cuomo was giving his heckler an education on why the name disturbed him:

“No, punk a** b*tches from the right call me Fredo, my name is Chris Cuomo, I’m an anchor on CNN. Fredo was from the Godfather, he was a weak brother, and they use it as an Italian aspersion. Are you Italian? It’s an insult to your people,” Cuomo went on after seeming to receive an affirmative response.

“It’s like the n-word for us is that a cool f***ing thing?”

“You’re a much more reasonable guy in person than you are on TV,” the closer heckler said to Cuomo.

“Yeah well, if you want to f***ing play, then we’ll f***ing play,” Cuomo replied to the closer man. If you’ve got something to say about what I do on television, then say it …” Cuomo said, before being cut off by the other man.

The pair continued to argue, with the stranger insisting that he thought that “Fredo” was Cuomo’s name, to which Cuomo called him a liar, called him some names, asked how he liked it and then told the man he should stand up for what he said.

“Hey I don’t want any problems,” the unidentified man said.

“You’re going to have a problem,” Cuomo replied, to which the man asked “What are you going to do about it?”

“I’ll f***in ruin your shit. I’ll f***ing throw you down these stairs lie a f***king punk,” Cuomo said.

The argument continued with both men insisting that they could win if it came to a fight and Cuomo inviting the stranger to “take a swing.”

The stranger ended the conversation after the pair were split by several men standing between them, saying “look at all these cameras, you’re in for it.”

Hannity weighed in, saying that he believed Cuomo was well within his rights to stand up to a man who made a weak-kneed attempt to insult him while at an event with his family.

“I say good for @ChrisCuomo,” Hannity wrote on Twitter late Monday. “He’s out with his 9 year old daughter, and his wife, and this guy is being a jackass in front of his family. Imho Chris Cuomo has zero to apologize for. He deserves the apology.”
