Speculation mounts that Chelsea Clinton is about to start political career

New York Democratic Rep. Nita Lowey announced that she will not seek reelection in a district where Chelsea Clinton has reportedly considered launching her political career, according to The Hill.

“After 31 years in the United States Congress, representing the people of Westchester, Rockland, Queens and the Bronx, I have decided not to seek re-election in 2020,” Lowey, 82, said in a statement according to The Hill.

“It is my deep honor and privilege to serve my community and my country, and I will always be grateful to the people who have entrusted me to represent them. I am proud of the help my office has provided to thousands of constituents on matters ranging from health insurance and veterans’ benefits to Social Security and student loans,” she continued.

Lowey went on to say that she looks forward to “more time with my husband Steve and our family, who have strongly supported my career in public service,” she said. “I will continue working as hard as ever – with the same optimism and energy – through the end of this term in Congress.”

The New York Democrat’s lack of bid for Congress comes on the heels of the release of Chelsey and Hillary Clinton’s book, “Gutsy Women,” which they appeared on ABC’s “The View” to promote just days ago.

During the interview the younger Clinton took aim at President Donald Trump, saying that he is “the greatest scam in American political history,” and that she doesn’t want her children to grow up under his leadership.

The pair were on the show to promote their new book, but somehow spent a good portion of their time talking about a man, Trump.

Clinton doubled down on Trump’s perceived misdeeds while in the White House, saying: “I think his whole life has been a scam. And I think unfortunately people are suffering every day because his scam has thus far kind of succeeded at the highest level.”

The younger Clinton woman was coming off a social media high of responding to one of the president’s tweets with a remark that won her over a quarter of a million likes, and more than 40,000 retweets.

Following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s decision to back an impeachment inquiry, the president tweeted denouncing the move calling it “THE GREATEST SCAM IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICAN POLITICS!” Chelsea responded with, “Yes, you are.”

The former first daughter’s scathing rebuke follows similar remarks she made on Twitter earlier this week in response to the president’s tweet denouncing the House Democrats’ decision to move forward with an impeachment inquiry.
