President Trump took time during his trip to Europe to talk about immigration and how it’s affecting the nations of the world.
According to President Trump, America isn’t the only country struggling with an immigration influx that could negatively affect us. He said that Europe’s immigrants have “changed the fabric” of their continent.
“I think you are losing your culture. Look around. You go through certain areas that didn’t exist 10 or 15 years ago,” he said in an interview with The Sun newspaper.
“I think what has happened to Europe is a shame,” Trump added. “Allowing the immigration to take place in Europe is a shame.”
“I have a great love for the countries of Europe,” the President said. He talked about his own Scottish and German ancestors as the foundation for that love.
“I think it changed the fabric of Europe and, unless you act very quickly, it’s never going to be what it was and I don’t mean that in a positive way,” Trump said. “So I think allowing millions and millions of people to come into Europe is very, very sad.”
President Trump made it clear during his run for office that he planned to stem the flow of illegal immigration, as well as ignore whatever politically correct policies that he believes might put the country in danger.
Part of that campaign has led him to bar the entrance and immigration of individuals from certain Muslim-majority countries.
The President also ordered a “zero-tolerance” policy for illegal border crossings, which allows for criminal prosecution of every adult who crosses the border illegally.
That was later eased away from after international outrage for the children who were without their guardians, however, it did show the world how serious this administration is taking their promises on immigration.
President Trump, however, still believes that Brits would appreciate his immigration policies, despite how different they are from the current ones they live under.
“I think they like me in the UK,” the president said. “I think they agree with me on immigration.”
