Another person in the inner circle of the Trump administration is leaving their position. They did not hear Trump’s well worn phrase from his TV days, “You’re fired,” this person abruptly resigned from her position.
President Trump’s personal assistant, Madeleine Westerhourt, left from her post on Thursday. Her departure happened after it was revealed she shared information about the president’s family with members of the press, reports said Thursday.
Westerhout stepped down after President Trump found out that she disclosed the personal details to reporters while they were staying in hotels near Trump’s Bedminster golf resort, according to the New York Times.
The former personal assistant to the president also shared information about White House operations with the reporters, according to CNN.
The president was on vacation at the time.
Westerhout is 28-years-old, and is now considered a “separated employee.” She will not be allowed to return to the White House on Friday, the Times reported.
Westerhout has been Trump’s assistant since the first day of his presidency, but before he was elected, she was not an ally of the president.
She previously worked as a staffer for Mitt Romney’s 2012 campaign. It was reported that she broke down and sobbed when President Trump was elected in 2016.
Annie Karni tweeted this about Westerhout’s departure: “Westerhout has sat outside the Oval Office since Day 1 of the admin. Has become a trusted aide to Trump, but is out after talk of recent indiscreet chatter got to POTUS https://nyti.ms/2Poo6Ym via me and @MaggieNYT.”
