John Podesta, the former chairman for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, spoke out on Monday and declared that the revelations of Trump official’s contacts with Russia is beginning to smell “like collusion.”

Podesta, no stranger to controversy himself, continued by saying on MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes,” “You know, it’s starting to smell more and more like collusion to the public.” He then began focusing on the recent revelation about Donald Trump Jr. “Donald Trump Jr. said that he specifically went to the meeting with the hopes of soliciting negative information about Hillary,” Podesta noted, referencing a New York Times report that said the president’s son met with a Russian Lawyer after he was promised that harmful information would be given about Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump Jr. confirmed that there was a meeting, but denied that the focus was on negative information about Hillary. In another story, he said that the meeting focused on adoptions between Russia and the United States.

Podesta surely has an ax to grind regarding Trump and Russia. He was the victim of an email phishing attack during the campaign in which many of his stolen emails were published on Wikileaks. Most Clinton officials believe this severely hurt their campaign. This hack is a part of multiple investigations into Russian meddling in the election and possible collusion with Trump officials.

Podesta emphasized to MSNBC the need “to get the facts straight,” when it comes to the special counsel’s probe into Russia and the presidential election. “When a foreign national’s coming in with that kind of information, you have to ask your lawyers,” he said.

“I think the House and Senate Intelligence Committees are going to want to get to the bottom” of this, Podesta said, referencing the ongoing probes in both chambers of Congress. So I guess not Mueller? I thought he was going to fix this?

Do you think that Podesta is right? Is it really beginning to smell “like collusion,” or is this just a way for Podesta to get the heat away from him? Do you think he should release the names of people that gave them dirt on Trump?
